The election is tomorrow and I believe it will be a historical landslide as we semd Hillary Clinton to the White House. I believe the Democratic Party will do a sweep and we will have, at the very least a Democratic president and senate and possibly a congress as well. If this happens, it will send a loud message to the Republican Party that they will have to finally answer. This is that they have lost the right to govern by their attitudes and actions.
We have watched a travesty of a campaign over the last year and a half. 16 of the weakest candidates were too gutless to stand up to a fraud and a con man. Whether they were familiar with his habit of taking revenge on everyone who has ever seen by him to slight or insult him or they just didn’t take him seriously, they let him walk all over them. Only John Kassich and Lindsey Graham seemed to show any ability to stand against him in any way and Ted Cruz buddied up to him and still lost. On the other hand, a woman named Hillary Clinton became his worst nightmare. Only she had the (excuse the expression) balls to take him on. Instead of sucking up to him or crumbling when he called her names, she fought his attacks with counter attacks that left him floundering and whining on Twitter. The Republicans did not call him out or vet him properly to find out about all of his peccadilloes, scams, sexual assaults, etc. When he won the nomination, instead of stepping away from him and standing on morality and honor, most of them accepted him and backed him as their candidate. This man, who would have been in jail had he not convinced people he was a billionaire (which is doubtful) began the nastiest campaign that we have had for a long time. His misogyny and racism and inability to tell the truth and lack of knowledge about our government and foreign and domestic affairs and refuses to do the work required to be able to do a decent debate has come too close to becoming president. His campaign is so lazy that they plagiarize Michelle Obama and possibly Marla Maples words for Melania’s speeches. Every time we find out some new misbehavior of Trump’s, the Republicans act shocked and threaten to walk away from Trump only to come back to him if it looks like he has a chance to win. What they are doing is shameful and yet this has been coming for a long time.
The Republicans ended up nominating a man after their own hearts. They picked a man that was the true expression of their ideology. For sixteen years we watched their insane grab for power over this country. With a supreme court stacked in their favor, they forced G. W. Bush on us with his puppet masters Dick Cheney and Rumsfeld. Right away Georgie started shaking his spear at China. But on 9/11 in 2001, he finally had the excuse to have a war. They used the worst attack on the U.S. since Pearl Harbor to lie and manipulate our nation into a war that we are still fighting. George, it seemed to me, wanted a war just like daddy had but did not have the brains his father had. He and his cronies played on our terror and made sure that anytime we began to feel less threatened the would step up the fear mongering. I truly believe that, given the chance they would have removed term limit on the presidency and would have become a dictatorship had they not been stopped.
Then we had the rise of the Tea Party which wedded itself to the Republican Party. The Freedom caucus and other sub sets seem to be alt-right light. For years they have been working against President Obama (our government) not for the good of our country but for their own agendas. They don’t want a Democratic president and even more they don’t want a black president. These people got into office on a carpet of lies pretending that they were the true patriots and then proceeded to destroy the economies of the states they became governors of and causing obstruction and chaos in the congress. People like Ted Cruz who cared so little about America that he led the shutdown of the government. People like Darryl Issa who held hearing after hearing on Benghazi, wasting taxpayer money and then trying to de-fund some of the more important programs because they did not get their way about Obamacare.
With the blockage of Immigration Reform, the voter suppression actions, the anger against the Iran agreement, the fighting to keep Gitmo open, etc. they are sending the same messages as Trump is. The old GOP, at least tried to work with the Democrats, today’s Republicans and the right wing Evangelicals have decided we are the spawn of the Devil and refuse to work with us in any way. It is sad because there are still a few statesmen in the Congress that are Republicans. The rest are a bunch of lazy spoiled babies that have been throwing tantrums for 8 years because they lost the election in 08.
We are their employers. Would you hire an employee that says if I have to work under that supervisor I will make sure that nothing gets done? Isn’t that exactly what Burr and McCain are saying about not allowing Hillary to appoint Supreme Court justices? Isn’t that exactly what the Congress has been doing since Obama got elected? Isn’t it time we fire their butts?
The Republicans have proven over and over again that they put party over our nation and power over what the people want. They have proven that they will scam us by accepting their paycheck without doing their work. They have lost the right to govern and we need to make that clear tomorrow at the polls.
